Together in Mission | Juntos en Misión

Dear Saints Simon and Jude Family,     

Over the last four years, we have taken time each October to renew our commitment of tithing to our parish through our Together in Mission Campaign. What is a tithe? It literally means ten percent—referring to the biblical practice of offering ten percent of what one has to the Lord. It is a great act of justice, to give something back to the God who has given us everything. It is a great act of generous belonging to your parish family when you take part of that tithe and give it to your parish family. It says, “I am here.”

Thank you for being here and for all you do to serve the Lord and each other in this beautiful community.

Let us never forget our “Why”. There is a beautiful phrase that says the person who remembers “why” will be able to go through any “how”. Our reason for existing as a parish is to live in the Spirit, to let the Spirit of Christ enliven our families and our neighborhoods. We are here for each other, living in the Spirit, together.

Durante los últimos cuatro años, cada mes de octubre hemos tomado el tiempo para renovar nuestro compromiso de diezmo a nuestra parroquia a través de la campaña “Juntos en Misión”. ¿Qué es el diezmo? Literalmente significa el diez por ciento; se refiere a la práctica bíblica de ofrecer al Señor el diez por ciento de lo que uno posee. Es un gran acto de justicia: devolver algo al Dios que nos ha dado todo. Es un gran acto de generosa pertenencia a su familia parroquial cuando destinan parte de ese diezmo a su propia parroquia. Es una forma de decir: "Aquí estoy".

Les agradezco profundamente que estén aquí y todo lo que hacen para servir al Señor y a los demás en esta hermosa comunidad.

Nunca olvidemos nuestro "porqué". Existe una frase hermosa que dice que quien recuerda el "porqué" es capaz de superar cualquier "cómo". Nuestra razón de ser como parroquia es vivir en el Espíritu, permitir que el Espíritu de Cristo dé vida a nuestras familias y a nuestro barrio. Estamos aquí los unos para los otros, viviendo juntos en el Espíritu.
